Our First OLM Youth Pastor!!

Posted by & filed under , , .

When the Order of Lay Ministries (OLM) was envisioned, it came about in response to a concern expressed by a number of Youth Pastors or Youth Workers who had been appointed in their congregation but felt like they wanted to have a sense of belonging to the wider Denomination.

Interestingly enough, while the OLM has existed for some time, those who have been set apart to it have all been Lay Preachers. That is until now. Early in January Mrs Kersty van Zyl, Youth Worker at Trinity Meadowridge in the Cape Town Presbytery was set apart to the Order after completing her Foundations Course and additional training. The photos below show her being set apart in the congregation.

As a committee we are very excited about this development and look forward to more Youth Pastors and hopefully some Pastoral Visitors and people from other ministries also being set apart and recognised by their Presbyteries as part of the Order of Lay Ministries.

Warm congratulations to Kersty and the Session and Congregation of Trinity Meadowridge!
