Another Success Story of the UPCSA’s Order of Lay Ministries (OLM)
Tiyo Soga Congregation in Langa, Cape Town embraced the UPCSA’s OLM programme and encouraged its members to make use thereof. Four of the members satisfied the basic requirements and the Presbytery of Western Cape authorised them to get to work. The Session of Tiyo Soga Congregation arranged a service to commission them as Local Evangelists and the service was conducted on Sunday, the 20th February 2022 where the minister in charge of the Congregation, the Rev Mzwamadoda Mfene preached.
The four who were commissioned are:
- Mrs Veronica Nokuthula Belle-Thoba. She completed a UPCSA OLM course with 5 modules and Bethel Bible Series
- Mrs Babalwa Qusheka-Ngcwabe. She completed the UPCSA OLM course with 5 modules, Bethel series (Old Testament) and some modules on Church Planting with the Huguenot College, with the financial assistance from the UPCSA through the Mission and Discipleship Committee of the General Assembly.
- Mrs Nokwayiyo Pamlana-Kondleka. She completed a UPCSA OLM course with 5 modules and Bethel Bible Series.
- Mr. Pindile Albert Mazula. He completed a UPCSA OLM course with 5 modules and Bethel Bible Series. In addition to that, he also did the following programmes:
4.1 The commuters preaching and proclamation course with Dutch Reformed Church.
4.2 An Introduction to Theology Studies in South African Theological Seminary.
The four and another local evangelist, Evangelist Nikelo Mkwe will be engaged in church planting and church growth ventures in the different parts of the Western Cape, which include Fish Hoek, Du Noon, Malmesbury, Saldanha, Laaiplek and Vredenburg, which are the mission fields of the Tiyo Soga Congregation. They will continue to be under the care and support of the Congregation. We pray that their labour will not be in vain.
